We decided to start this group to give young children of all backgrounds the chance to learn Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and other South Asian Languages including Punjabi and Gujarati, while also reinforcing English language skills.

Our multi-lingual program is geared towards reading and learning. Each program focuses on stories, songs and enriching activities in one South Asian Language along with at least one English language story or activity within the half-hour story time. 

Each NYC Read to Me Story time event and typically lasts 30 minutes and requires the participation of a parent or caregiver.

NYC Read To Me: Story Time in Hindi and Urdu 

(Geared towards ages 2-5.)

We gladly welcome "NYC Read to Me" volunteer applicants who are fluent in the following languages.

All Volunteers are pre-screened and willing to commit to a one-hour training. Volunteers and must be able to come to public libraries and event/community spaces in Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn.
