I love Ruby for its cleanliness and expressiveness. I sometimes cringe when I have to work with 100s of lines of boilerplate Java code that could easily be expressed in just a few lines of Ruby code.
An introduction to business intelligence and customer analytics - a survey of the free/open source tools available for this (Jaspersoft for reporting, Infobright as a free columnar analytics database, etc.)
I manage the Business Intelligence Team at MLB.com. I write data integration jobs using ETL tools along with Ruby and/or Python. I run analytics and reporting on top of several data warehouse databases, including Teradata.
