Sunday Afternoon Trivia - Cosi at W 23 St on April 29

  • April 29, 2012 · 3:00 PM

Let's do a Sunday afternoon of trivia at Cosi on 23rd Street & 6th Avenue in Manhattan. The F and PATH trains stop right there. Any other Manhattan subway and the M23 crosstown bus will get you there. Here are the games we're playing:

Say When - who or what is the tallest, longest, fattest, oldest or whatever? Write down your best guess. Answers are numbers. Get it within the range to score.

Beat The Experts - answer more questions right (out of 10) than the experts did. Experts are people from all walks of life, famous and not so famous. This is a team game.

Billboard Hot 100 - music trivia from the 60s to the present. We'll play in pairs or teams.

Ed will have Trivial Pursuit and Guesstimation

Now for our trivia questions, about Mike Wallace and Dick Clark, who we both lost recently:

1 What was Mike Wallace's actual first name?

2 Who was Mike's co-anchor when 60 Minutes debuted in 1968?

3 What controversial sports figure did Mike Wallace do his last interview with, in 2006?

4 Dick Clark's American Bandstand originated in what city?

5 What other TV legend subbed for Dick on his Rockin' New Year's Eve show when he suffered a stroke in 2004?

All righty, there you go.

A baker's dozen. All the people above plus Tom, who saw our site and came down. I hope he joins the group. Good game playing at Ed's table and my table. Next time we go into "repeats" of games we've played before. There's over 40 games, counting Ed's collection and mine. A nice afternoon of trivia gaming.

Well my sources say 2006, but Roger Clemens is the answer. Now let's see if we can find out Mike Wallace's actual first name.

    April 29, 2012

  • Margalit

I looked up Mike Wallace and they mention his last interview was in 2008 with Roger Clemens

    April 29, 2012

  • Mike C.

No, it's not Pete Rose. I'll give it a couple of hours before I reveal the answer.

    April 29, 2012

  • Elaine R

(#3 again, since no one else has jumped in) Pete Rose?

    April 28, 2012

  • Mike C.

Still looking for answers to Questions 1 and 3 regarding Mike Wallace. I will tell you that for Question 3, the controversial sports figure was a baseball player.

    April 28, 2012

  • Mike C.

    No, sorry Elaine. Wrong sport.

    April 26, 2012

  • Elaine R

    Was #3 Dennis Rodman?

    April 26, 2012

  • Clark G.

Oh yeah, Dan Rather, you are right, I was thinking of that.

    April 24, 2012

  • Mike C.

Harry Reasoner is correct for Question 2. No Mike wasn't fired for any scandal I can think of. He decided to pull back his workload when his health started to decline. Dan Rather was inviolved in a scandal about a story he reported. That might be what you're thinking of.

    April 24, 2012

  • Clark G.

Wasn't Mike Wallace fired for a scandal??

    April 24, 2012

  • Clark G.

OH!! I just got number 2!! Harry Reasoner! I admit, I ran across that in an article I was reading the other day and it just clicked!!

    April 24, 2012

  • Mike C.

Clark is correct for Questions 4 and 5. Also, yes, Dick took over for another host and stepped down as host before AB went off for good.

    April 22, 2012

  • Clark G.

Question 5: Regis Philbin. The next year Ryan Seacrest joined as co-host.

    April 22, 2012

  • Clark G.

Question 4 - it's Philadelphia. Did you know that Dick Clark was NOT the original host? Also, for a brief time, before it went off the air there as another host.
