Sunday Afternoon Trivia - Cosi at 8th St on Nov. 18 - 1st Anniversary!

  • Nov 18, 2012 · 3:00 PM

All righty gang. Trivia Board Games is celebrating its first anniversary on November 18. Cosi on E 8th Street just off Broadway in Manhattan is where we had our first meetup. They have good food and free refills on sodas. Here the games we're playing:

NEWSHOUND - about news events of the 20th and 21st century

EYE KNOW - pick one of the pictures on the board. Use your chips to bet on answering questions about that picture.

OUTBURST - guess the 10 answers on each card to a given topic. A team game.

TRIVIAL PURSUIT - Ed will have the 25th Anniversary and Baby Boomer editions.

CASH CAB - based on the TV show

There will be two tables of games. Ed will have Trivial Pursuit and Cash Cab. I'll have the other games. Those arriving early (before 3 pm) will get to choose where to sit. Now here are your trivia questions. Since Election Day just passed:

1 How long is the term of a U.S. senator?

2 What is the minimum age to serve as U.S. President?

3 How many electoral votes are needed to win a U.S. Presidential election?

4 How many people make up the U. S. House of Representatives?

TRIVIA TIDBITS:

On November 9, 1965, "the lights went out" during the evening rush hour in NYC and most of the northeast.

NYC Trivia Board Games was founded on 11/11/11. Our first meetup was on 11/20/11.

SMART ASS was the very first game we played at the first trivia meetup.

There will also be a surprise or two which will be announced at the meetup. All righty, you know what to do.

Enjoyed the one year anniversary very much & was happy to always run a Trivial Pursuit or other games at Table Number 2. Played a good game of Trivial Pursuit & got a score of $18.00 which is 4th place, out of 5 people. With Baby Boomer TV Question got the answer to Jonas Grumby the Skipper played by Alan Hale for a Blue Pie piece & also knew the answer to the first three sons of My Three Sons which were Mike & Robbie & Chip long before Ernie. Also Played the Billboard Trivia & Did my best. However even though I learned about an old Western Drama from 1957 to 1965 called Wagon Train, had difficulty answering the trivia question about it since I never saw that show but heard about it. Most of my types of TV Shows I know are family sitcoms & other types of sitcoms including some science fiction ones.

A very good meetup to celebrate our first anniversary. My table played Newshound, Eye Know, Outburst and the Billboard 100 music trivia game. Ed's table played Trivial Pursuit. We had two newbies, Shawn and Karen. Thanks to Ed for running games at the other table.
Thanks to Barbara for the wine and thanks to Sandy and Glenn for their gift to me.

Angela & Barbara won Newshound, Daisy & Clark won Eye Know and the team of Daisy, Clark, Sandy & Glenn won Outburst. Barbara and I won the Billboard Hot 100 game. Thanks to all for supporting NYC Trivia Board Games in the past year. The next trivia meetup will be on Friday, November 30. Until then, have a good Thanksgiving.

If there are more than 4 people for Cash Cab some can do it on teams of 2 unless I can get more game pieces.
