Respecting Semantics

Talk Description: This talk is meant to help people understand what "Semantic" really means. As designers we need to have an understanding of the tools used to innovate so we can design with those tools in mind. The facilitation of innovation comes from people who have a love for what they do, and pushing to have an understanding of what you might not be familiar with shows that love and passion. You will not become a coding expert but you will have a better holistic understanding of the technologies we use to innovate with and I hope to spark some conversation.

About the Speaker:

Brian Durkin is a UX Designer with a fine arts background and years of design and development experience prior to his UX focus. He has worked at People Magazine, Live Technology, Santa Barbara City College, Live Nation, Nickelodeon, Sotheby's, and agencies like Huge, Roundarch, Foundry 9 and now Havas. Brian bases his work on empathy and likes to educate others about the importance of UX from a strategic perspective. Brian is also an advocate for human-centered processes like Agile and Lean Startup.
