The UX Lifecycle: From Strategy to Execution and Beyond… with Marc Niola

Join NYC UX Acrobatics for its first Meetup event- The UX Lifecycle: From strategy to Execution and Beyond.

This conversation will be about the essential components of User Experience Design and the different methodologies used at each stage in the process.
From concept to prototype to experience design, successfully aligning the user’s needs with business objectives and stakeholder goals, dramatically impacts how successful a project will be. By examining the different components of the User Experience design process we gain both tactical focus and strategic insights that go into choosing the right methodologies and processes needed to create the products that users love to use and talk about.
Even if you’re a seasoned UX professional or new to UX field, Marc will offer new insights on how to develop an effective UX strategy and apply the best methodologies that improve conversion rates, customer engagement and brand loyalty.
Agenda:

7:30 Announcements
7:45 Presentation and Q & A 8:30 Post-Event Networking & Refreshments

Hi William, I'm glad to hear you found the presentation insightful. I posted the presentation on Slideshare: http://www.slideshare... . I'm working on a Manhattan venue for your next event and hope to have confirmation by next week.

Thanks for putting together the meetup, Marc. I think the meetup would benefit if it had more structure to begin with and then down the line things could be more unstructured/discussion-based once people know what to expect and have had a chance to network.

Personally I'd really like see the meetup structured around a main lecture that provides a detailed look at one subset of UX. For example, software seemed to be a talking point tonight so if someone that's well versed in the different options available could do a lecture on pros/cons of each and then have a Q/A afterwards, I think the discussion would be much more focused and beneficial for everyone interested. Could always break up into groups or have networking time afterwards for those that want it.

Anyone else think this might be a good way to go?

Thanks again for kicking off our first session Marc, it was great to see so many UX guys and gals in the same room.

Personally I really valued the less formal session at the end, where I could find out about other members experiences. It is great to hear that people have the same pain points, and how they work around those.

I agree with Danny that a main speaker with a case study/finding/software for 30mins or so is a great way to kick off the evening- it also gives you something to discuss and examine as a group afterwards. Looking forward to seeing where the next session takes us. Does anyone have thoughts on how often we should try to meet?

Thanks for the comments Danny and Georgie. I agree case-studies are almost always insightful. I was planning for an event every month. I hope to have a more concrete schedule in the next few weeks. Let's keep the conversation going!

Talk seemed more geared towards those who are unfamiliar with the basics of UX work. I was hoping for a more in-depth talk.

Thanks for the comments David; this being our first event I wanted to keep content light while we find our footing. Stay tuned for more advanced topics.
