My interest is not confined to scaling but hyperscaling i.e. a successful startup that finds that it must rampup its IT to meet skyrocketing consumer demand. Nightmare scenario would be to plan and execute for the usual IT setup say LAMP, have the demand skyrocket on you and have to work how to transition to cloud compution while fevereshly adding to current capacity.
I have an understanding of cloud computing - actually enough to understand that a whole new set of management tools and a whole new set of technologies must be planned and implemented. That's because scale magnifies every IT issue from management to security to lack of standardization. I had been goinzo adding depth and breadth to my skills set but I find that cloud computing actually requires that I go one step beyond what I am already doing and literally reinvent myself.
