We have fun, interesting, informative, and scenic walks in New York City, New Jersey, Long Island, and Westchester County.
At each event, the organizer might talk about the architecture, art, history, and nature in an area, but you will have plenty of time to socialize with others in the group and enjoy the beautiful scenery. These are sociable walks that go through historic neighborhoods, along scenic waterfronts, in arboretums, botanical gardens, woodland public parks, nature preserves, natural habitats, covered forests, and to artist studios, art galleries, museums, historic houses, National historical parks/sites, festivals, and off the beaten path places.
The cost of each event is $2 per person, which is paid at the start of the walk. This is for the organizer's Meetup semi-annual fees and preparation costs, which include buying presentation books, photocopying charges, "scouting out" transportation costs, getting newspaper subscriptions for research, purchasing stationery supplies, and so on.
If you have any questions for one of the organizers, you can contact that organizer through her/his private Meetup inbox. The organizer for the event (the event host) is listed on the top of the "going list" with a photograph.
If you are registered for a walk and can't attend, please change your RSVP online from "YES" to "NO". This might allow someone else to go, so please be considerate of others in the group.
A member who incurs an excessive number of "no-shows" will either be removed from this meetup group and not be allowed to attend the walking events or bumped from the "going list" to the "waiting list" for meetup events with limited space in favor of those with a good attendance history. Therefore, a member who has a good attendance history will always have preference to the "going list."
There is also no need to post why you can't make the event. Thank you again.
