This is the Regular Guided Autobiography group of the Spring 2013 ten-week cycle. This group meets every Sunday at 1pm for the duration of the cycle.
It is recommended that you attend an Information Session on January 6 or January 13 before attending this group, but it is not required.
By RSVPing for this Meetup, you commit to attend at least 7 out of 10 meetups in this time slot (which takes place at 1pm on Sundays).
The LOCATION of this and all future Meetups are in Morningside Heights on 113th street, near Columbia University. Exact address will be provided closer to the date of the Meetup.
The dates and subjects for the Regular GAB Group, Spring 2013 semester Part I are:
January 20 - Read aloud Branching Points, begin Where We Live
January 27 - Read aloud Where We Live, begin Family
February 3 - Read aloud Family, begin Friends
February 10 - Read aloud Friends, begin Money
February 17 - Read aloud Money, begin Work / Career
February 24 - Read aloud Work / Career, begin Relationships

March 10 - Read aloud Health, begin Future Generations
March 17 - Read aloud Future Generations, begin Death and Spirituality
March 24 - Read aloud Death and Spirituality
Please plan to attend all Meetups scheduled with this group if possible; absences hurt the whole group.
It is not possible for individuals to join the group after the second week (after the Meetup on January 27).
Please bring your one to two page (single or double-spaced) autobiographical excerpt on the subject of the week.
You should have received the handout on the subject at one of the previous information sessions. If you skip a week, it is your responsibility to email the organizer to ask for the handout for that week.
Be prepared to read aloud and share your writing piece with the group.
If you didn't have time to write this week, that's okay - please still come! It is important to support one another as best we can.
No cell phone use, please. It is vital that our full attention be devoted to listening to each other.
This is not a writing group, therefore leave behind your critical-thinking caps and be prepared to only provide support and love for each other, with at maximum light constructive criticism for those who ask for it. We are all working on a difficult task, writing our autobiographies, and this is leaves us very vulnerable. Please be sensitive to this.
This group - the Regular Guided Autobiography Group - is free, but please plan (if you can) to contribute a few dollars every week to cover the cost of refreshments. Or you can bring something to share instead! There is no cost to participate, however.
The location is the same as the previous information session Meetups, but if you have a need for the address again, you will receive it when you RSVP.
