I want to invite you to a literacy event this Saturday! It's called BookSwim's "Drop Everything and Read" Central Park Challenge, in honor of National D.E.A.R. Day, on Saturday, April 12th. The day is designed to encourage people to make time in their busy schedules to sit down and read a book. (the new "netflix of books") is pleased to be working with, the New York Public Library, New York Knicks and Liberty teams,, HarperCollins Publishers, 92nd Street Y, The Princeton Review, and many other organizations that promote literacy, to make this event a great success!

We expect to have more than 10,000 readers join us throughout the event, with a few celebrity literacy advocated including John Starks and Randolph Morris of the NY Knicks and Kim Hampton of the NY Liberty. We're holding this inside Central Park between 86th St. and 90th St. along Central Park West, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. You can see all about it at

Please consider this an official invitation, from me to you, to help us promote literacy in New York. We would like you and your available club members to commit to a 30-minute block of time, at any point during the event, during which you?ll enjoy some time to -- in the spirit of the holiday -- Drop Everything and Read. Please bring a book, a snack, a blanket, and a friend to celebrate the holiday.

Let me know if you have any additional questions - [masked].  Thanks!

-George Burke
