Why do you want to participate in the NYC Professional Fundraiser and Grantmaker Meetup, and what event format would be most desirable?

This group is a first-stop network for business sector people making a move to the nonprofit world. Face-to-face meetups are good for information exchange and getting questions answered. I found direction from our members and made a move.

How did you learn of this Meetup?

The best meetups are those that have active members - professionals that communicate and encourage others while mentoring the new members. There are so many opportunities to connect and assist one another, not just locally, but globally as well.

What is the most interesting aspect of working in the nonprofit sector?

The quality of the people; they are high-level thinkers, dedicated to ideas and organizations rather than gain. Every day it feels good to work with people who move a good idea forward and perhaps change one person's life for the better.

If you started a new business, what would it be?

I admire the creative vision used to bring books and educational materials to rural children throughout the world. I guess funding that effort would be my natural call as a librarian.

Introduction

Lee Zuckerman and I met at NYUs Heyman Center classes. We started this meetup to keep in touch with nonprofit professionals and people making the transition to nonprofit careers. We found networking is key to finding a job that fits. Join us!
