Eid-al-Fitr Prayer

This year we will be holding Eid Prayer with the NYU IC. Please RSVP to both this meetup and sign up via the below google doc form.

Google Doc Form:

Form Details:
Please fill out the below form in its entirety to reserve a seat for yourself and to help us better plan for our Eid services at ICNYU.

Eid Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 8th, will begin at 9:30am and will be followed by a community brunch at 10:30am. Guests will be allowed to arrive from 9am onwards. A second prayer time might be added should the need arise.

All services will be held in the Rosenthal Pavilion, located on the 10th floor of NYU's Kimmel Center located at 60 Washington Square South, NY, NY 10012. Please have a valid ID card to enter the building.

The IC will be collecting Zakatul Fitr in the morning prior to the Eid prayer IN CASH ONLY and will ensure that it is distributed properly inshallah to those in need in the community. Zakat ul Fitr is a form of charity that is unique to the month of Ramadan and should be paid before the Eid Prayer commences inshallah.

Ibn `Abbas has said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) enjoined Zakat-ul-Fitr so that those who fast are purified of their sins and the poor and needy people are enabled to arrange for their basic needs of food, clothing etc. Therefore, the Sadaqah (charity) of the person who gives before the `Eid prayer is the real Sadaqah, but if someone delays and gives it afterwards, his charity will be an ordinary one."

We are calculating the Zakat ul Fitr to be about $10 per person and should be given on your own behalf as well as on behalf of your individual family members inshallah.

Wonderful to see so many people at the NYU Eid prayer and brunch. One of the most enjoyable Eid prayers I've been to in a long while.

there are different methods of Eid prayer with some similarities in Muslim Groups (All methods are correct) Its always good if we know the prayer method before we join the prayer. So please I ll suggest Imam or organizer to explain the Eid prayer method to make all of us ready. JazakAllah Khair.
