Dear Progressive Muslim Meetup members, we would like to draw your attention to another Meetup that's been taking place for over a year now and is called The Quran Discussion Group.  The Quran Discussion Group meets on the 2nd and the 4th Monday of the month from 7 pm to 8:30 pm in the Gallery of the John H. Holmes Community House at the 28 E 35th street.

We invite you to experience Quran's wisdom to help understand your present life and gain insights on how to make it better.  This discussion is based on the book "The Quran and the Life of Excellence," by Sultan Abdulhameed. Our schedule for May 2014 is as follows:

Monday, May 12th:   Sura 93 teaches how to be optimistic when things are not going well for us:

http://www.meetup.com/islam-215/events/180453372/

Monday, May 26th: Sura 94 teaches that every problem we face has a solution that will take us to a higher place in life:

Look for solutions and do not complain about the problems: http://www.meetup.com/islam-215/events/180453572/

We will be posting each month's discussions here as a reminder, but we encourage you to join the Quran Discussion Group Meetup and take part in the open discussion of various Quranic ayas with the rest of the members who are seeking to use the tools provided to us all in those ayas in order to improve their lives and by the same token, strengthen their faith.

See you there.

For me Mondays are often not possible but your subjects are very good and so I hope to come one day soon. Have you done any discussions on wealth & poverty, the gap between rich & poor etc? I have to do a paper on this issue at a conference and would very much like to collect thoughts on this important subject, suras, interpretations, anything
