Gems of DockYard & Building an Ember App with Rails-API

This month we're excited to welcome Brian Cardarella down from Boston to present two talks, "Gems of DockYard" followed by "Building an Ember App with Rails-API".

Gems of DockYard

Over the past year DockYard has been putting out gems to solve the problems we run into as a consultancy. Sometimes we are solving new problems, sometimes we're suffering from Not Invented Here. I'll go over: the latest ClientSideValidations, ValidAttribute, CapybaraEmail, EasyAuth, Pages, and PostgresExt.

Building an Ember App with Rails-API

This live coding session will show creating a simple CRUD app using Ember. Brian will go over many of concepts in Ember and draw comparisons to Ruby and Rails itself in the patterns that Ember uses.

Brian Cardarella is the owner of Boston-based Rails Consultancy DockYard. He is the author of several popular gems including ClientSideValidations, ValidAttribute, and Capybara-Email

+1 While short, Brian's Rails/Ember presentation was clear and useful. I'm trying to get my dev team on board with the same stack, and having the slides would be useful.

Awesome presentation, loved the UI on the site, can't imagine needing 96 gigs and running a large SSD, but I hope you blow AWS out of the water!

It was amazing! Great people, LOVED DigitalOcean. If I were more technical, I would have been able to follow the RSpec and Rails code. Thanks Everyone! I had to leave early because my cane wasn't supporting my leg well, and there were no seats, but I had a great time.

Is there a recording of this meetup? I really wanted to go but something came up at the last second. I would love to see how emberjs and rails got integrated here.

Will there be a hack session, or it's the presenter doing the coding?
