I am sorry Dave but you are getting upset over something I didn't say, worse you are putting words in my mouth.
If my tone came out condescending than I take that back, the point I was trying to make was actually really simple and straightforward.
imho the RoR community is focused on what you did / can do not where / if you went to school, perhaps in person you can explain to me why you find that so offensive.

Of course there is. It's also amusing to have it couched behind "within the RoR community", as if the Rails community is so awesome that only it recognizes that a degree is just paper. It's two condescensions in one.
Whether or not it was directed to me isn't relevant: it's an open forum, and everyone is free to respond.
In any case, I'm done--nyc.rb is pretty much ruined for me, before my first in-person meetup, before I had a chance to contribute back.
