Hacker School's summer batch started two weeks ago, but they'll be
doing another batch in the fall, and she absolutely should apply to
attend! (I was in Hacker School batch[2], and it was basically
life-changingly amazing for me. You're totally welcome to get her in
touch with me if she wants to pick someone's brain about what it was
like. That was before Etsy got involved, though.)

I also ditto recommending NYCRubyWomen, and would also suggest
checking out LadiesWhoCode, another NYC-based meetup. It's
language-agnostic, but a lot of women there are good with Ruby.
