Do you like food AND the internet?
Do you support small farms?
Do you believe in buying local?

Then come work with us at FarmersWeb!

FarmersWeb is a New York based eCommerce platform that connects local farmers and producers with local wholesale buyers. The goal of FarmersWeb is to increase market access and efficiency for both farms and buyers, which in turn will enable more local food to reach the end customer.

Seeking a mid to senior level web engineer with outstanding software architecture skills and years of experience to back it up!

This is a full time contract role for a minimum of 3 months and a very high likelihood of renewal and continual full time work after the contract.

The FarmersWeb web application is undergoing a ground up rewrite. Though the current codebase is on the LAMP stack, we've switched to a Ruby on Rails back end with a good dose of JS front. You'll be working in and helping to lead a small development team alongside another senior level developers and the CTO.

Our team will be moving very quickly so it's very important for you to be a self-starter and be able to run with a set of wireframes and requirements. As such, we are looking for someone with at least a few years of professional software experience that is looking to improve their skills and work with a talented team.

  • Ruby / Rails / Sinatra / PostgreSQL
  • Strong fundamentals in HTML / CSS
  • TDD using Rspec
  • Experience with AJAX and advanced JS techniques
  • Exposure to JS frameworks such as Backbone, Ember or Angular
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices

FarmersWeb is run by a small core of motivated techies and non techies alike, most of whom work from home. We have a small office in an awesome space in Williamsburg for the IT team and for the first few months we'll work on site. Not far down the road you may be able to work from home.

If you are interested, get in touch, send us a resume and a little about why you are a great fit for us. We look forward to working with you!
