This begs the question, what exactly does an internship represent? Internships, to me, are a vehicle for students to apply knowledge, build relationships in your company, and feel confident of their skills. I do not expect those skills will already be part of their toolkit. The technology field can often thrive on the notion that throwing people into the deep end has success through smarts or intelligence. However, it usually only shows off the talents of individuals who, often times, are given an edge.
