New Members - What's Expected

As with any group, if we want to be fully functional and successful, there are a few guidelines that actually make things work efficiently. Please read the guidelines listed below for the NYC Acoustic Guitar Forum and group events:

Requirement for Joining Group:
A profile photograph of you in which your face is clearly identifiable is required for membership in this group. This is not so we can evaluate the aesthetics of your face. This is so the Organizers can know who you are and recognize you as a member of the group. Member recognition is helpful at group functions held in public spaces, where it's necessary to know whether people are with our group or not, which helps us avoid blame for the actions of people not part of the group. The photos also help you identify other members of the group when you arrive at functions held at public venues.

If your face is not identifiable in the the profile photo you use, your profile WILL BE REMOVED within 24 to 48 hours.

If you remove your photo subsequent to joining the group, you WILL be removed from the group, without any additional warning.

Courtesy:
This is a learning environment, and members are expected to treat other members with courtesy and respect at all times, both online and in person.

Be prepared to learn and be coached into successfully playing the guitar. You will learn new things in this workshop, which is a tremendously effective learning environment.

Responding to Meetup Events:
  • Please RSVP for each scheduled Workshop event you plan to attend. The Organizer (that's me) needs to know exactly how many people will actually attend an event so we can adequately prepare the materials, plan for available space at the venue and take care of any administrative tasks. If you just show up, we may not have enough space or materials to accommodate you.
  • No Shows If you RSVP and fail to show up three or more times you will be removed from the group and subsequently banned from rejoining. Since space is limited, every RSVP keeps someone else from joining the event. And because each workshop session progresses from the previous session, and people are allowed to join only at session #1, when someone doesn't show up, it keeps another possible attendee from joining the workshop for at least 12 weeks.
  • Acoustic Jam Fundamentals attendees receive a discount when payment is made online in advance. For events where you can pay online, they system will automatically prompt you to make an online payment via PayPal at the time you RSVP. If you would like to pay in person, notify Harlem Acoustic Guitar Workshops by email and we'll add you to the RSVP list. You will then pay the full cost (not the discounted price). The "Online Discount" is available ONLY to participants who pay online.
  • For 12-Session Workshops - Participants get a discount if payment is made for all 12 sessions in advanced. This payment can be made in person. However the discount applies ONLY if payments are made in full, and in advanced of the of the start of the Workshop or on the first day of the workshop.
  • Installments Participants have the option of two installment payments for 12-week workshops. There is NO DISCOUNT when payments are made in installments. Review the workshop information on the group calendar for the prices of each workshop series.
  • Cancellations - For 4 Week or 12-Week Workshops, please see the contract governing the workshop for the cancellation policy. For single-day workshops and events, if you are unable to attend an event for which you have RSVP'd "Yes", please cancel at least two (2) days in advanced. You will receive a refund. There is no refund if you fail to cancel two or more days in prior to the event.
