The first Green Card Q&A with Attorney Douglas Lightman filled up in less than 2 hours, so we're going to have a 2nd session the following week.

In the next couple of weeks we will have sessions on other topics, including Work Permits, but this session we'll keep to Green Cards.

We're going to be in a smallish conference room, so it is again limited to 12 attendees, please be accurate with your RSVP so others can join.

There is again an automatic wait list, add your name and you will be added to the event if a spot opens up.

Attorney Douglas Lightman from Lightman Lawfirm LLC will be providing our group with a private Q&A session! We hope (if the interest is there) to do a few of these sessions, focusing on various Immigration Issues (from Green Cards, to H1B visas, TN Visas etc) to help our fellow Canadian Expats better navigate the often confusing waters with the USCIS!

In this inaugural session we will be focusing on GREEN CARDS! Different methods of obtaining them (from marriage to work sponsored), how long it takes, what you need to do, and how much it's going to cost you!

We are just testing this session out to gauge how much interest the group has, so we're going to be holding it in the Lightman Lawfirms' conference room, which only has room for 12 attendees. So please only RSVP if you are sure you are able to attend, and keep your RSVP updated if anything changes.

Please join the Canadian Association of New York (CANY) for a “Canada Day Patio Party” on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 6:30-10:00pm at the Boat Basin Café (W79th Street and the Hudson River), one of New York’s finest treasures. All Canadians and friends of Canadians are welcome.
Admission is $10.00 for CANY Members and $20.00 for Non-Members, which includes a complimentary drink and hors d’oeuvres. A cash bar with drink specials will be available throughout the evening for our group. Advance payment is necessary. Tickets may not be available for sale at the door.

Directions:
Take the 1 subway to W79th St., walk as far west on 79th Street as possible, cross Riverside Drive on either side of the street. Walk underneath the green highway overpass bridge bridge. Staircases on either side will lead you down to the Boat Basin Cafe.

Since it appears that you Canadians like drinking so much we're going to do it again in March! This time we're going to head back to Red Sky Lounge, which is where the group had scheduled many meetups in the past and everyone seemed to love it.

It'll be a similar low key event as last time. Just come out, have a few drinks and meet some fellow Canadians.
