NYC’s hottest new bar is actually very chill. Literally! Minus 5, located in midtown on 6th Avenue at 53rd, is essentially a giant walk-in freezer with decor, furniture, and even glasses made of ice.
After paying a $20 cover charge, you are issued disposable gloves and a parka (or you can pay $45 for a more stylish faux fur coat) and then you can then relax in a friendly crowd where the one thing you won't have to worry about is wilting in the heat.
I think it sounds like fun, and in terms of Canadian themes, you can't beat ice. (I was living in Ottawa during the ice storm of the late 90s if anyone remembers that.)
If you want to attend you can just pay your own cover and decide what kind of coat you want (or tough it out without a coat for bonus Canadian points). They don't issue boots though, so you probably should wear something that covers your feet rather than sandals or flip flops.
Look forward to seeing you there!
