New York Mayoral Election Meetup Viewing Party!

Hi everyone!

The rumors are true: Mayor Bloomberg is finally stepping down from office, this time for real. He'll be replaced by ... who knows? Kelsey Grammer declined the Republican nomination and Alec Baldwin declined the Democratic nomination, so not them.

Join us on November 5 at Tavern 29 (2nd floor) from 6PM until midnight, or whenever the election is called, to have a few drinks with fellow Canadians, watch the polls, and find out who will next be put in charge of our fine metropolis.

The more the merrier, so bring as many friends as you can round up. We promised Tavern 29 we'd spend at least $200 on drinks, but I'm sure we can do much better than that. We have a reputation to uphold!

Hope you can all make it. Cheers,

- Joe

What a waste - I heard they had an open bar at Joe Lhota's shin-dig. Everybody got drunk (of course).

Given that it will be my first Meetup with this group and I won't be there before at least 6.30pm I was wondering if the table on the 2nd floor is reserved under a name or we just show up and try to recognize faces from the pictures in the group? Thanks in advance and can't wait to meet new and friendly people :)

Hi Barbara, look for faces from the pictures, and for any Canadian flags. Cheers :)

If (former) Canadian Ted Cruz gets to run for President - then I am going to run for NYC Mayor! I will have all my friends in family in Montreal line up outside the American Embassy and cast their votes! Won't it be grand when the government realizes that letting Mr. Cruz run, means that ALL of Canada gets to vote! Vote for me in 4 years!!!!

Should be a close race. I hope it's not over before the polls close

Is it ok if a non-canadian want to join? Not particularly interested by the election itself but would love to meet Canadians as I'm seriously considering moving to Toronto after 6 years in crazy and exciting NYC. Let me know. Thanks :)
