Hey ya'all. Got some Great News to share with you. We've been invited yet again by our 'special friends' to attend another FREE Pre-Release Film Screening!
The deal is, as usual, we have guaranteed seats and don't have to wait on any lines like the rest of mankind. The film starts promptly at 7:30pm. I will be standing outside the theater handing out tickets from 6:45 to 7pm. You must get there no later than 7pm to be admitted. Feel free to text or call me if you have any questions @ [masked].
Due to the fact that whenever I send out an email blast about a 'Free Pre-Release Movie Screening' certain members of our group take the information and post it on other websites, as well as share it with their friends, I'm NOT listing the theater location here publicly (it's centrally located in Manhattan). Instead, I will send it to those who RSVP for it personally.
Also, our NYC GRINDHOUSE Membership Policy is in effect for this screening! If you haven't yet read and agreed to our policies, you won't be able to attend our screening.
From the writing-directing team Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Saw IV, V and VI) comes The Collection, a suspense horror film with nonstop thrills at every turn. Directed by Dunstan and starring Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises, The Collector), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network) and Christopher McDonald (“Boardwalk Empire,” Requiem for a Dream), the film centers on a traumatized man forced to help rescue a beautiful woman who has become the latest obsession of a crazed killer who “collects” humans in a booby-trapped house of horrors.
When ELENA (Fitzpatrick) is talked into attending an underground rave party with her friends, she finds herself caught in a nightmarish trap where the revelers are mowed, sliced and crushed to death by a macabre series of contraptions operated by a masked psychopath. When the grisly massacre is over, Elena is the only survivor. But before she can escape, she is locked in a trunk and transported to an unknown location.
Fortunately for Elena, one man—ARKIN (Stewart)—knows exactly where she’s headed, having just escaped from there with his life and sanity barely intact. Going back is the last thing on Arkin’s mind, but Elena’s wealthy father (McDonald) hires a crack team of mercenaries to force Arkin to lead them to the killer’s lair. But even these hardened warriors are not prepared for what they encounter: an abandoned hotel-turned-torture-chamber, rigged with deadly traps and filled with mangled corpses. Can Arkin and the team get to Elena before she too becomes part of his gruesome “collection”?
Welcome to NYC GRINDHOUSE - the only group on Meetup.com that deals specifically with the Exploitation Film Genre. We'll be watching old classics such as Russ Meyer's 'Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!' and Jack Hill's 'Coffy', the film that launched sexy Pam Grier into the spotlight, as well as new Grindies like Tarantino's 'Death Proof' and my recent favorite, 'MACHETE'!
When summer comes, we'll take a few weekend road-trips to check out the few remaining DRIVE-INs in NY - the closest one is less than 2 hours drive from Midtown, Madhattan! As well, I'll be hosting 'Drive-In Double Features' on my rooftop in gritty Hell's Kitchen. If you have any questions, please email me at Grindmaster@NYCGrindhouse.com, or call/text me @ (347) 523-3937.
We'll also be checking out special Midnight Screenings @ the famous Sunshine theatre on East Houston Street, as well as other exploitation screenings in and around Badhattan.
FINALLY, as the original 'Grindhouses' were named after the now defunct burlesque theaters located on 42nd Street in New York City, where 'bump n' grind' dancing and striptease were featured, we'll visit some of the remaining burlesque and vaudeville venues in NYC for a bit of naughtiness. . .
