Learning to read and write music

A former member
Post #: 8

I don't currently play any instruments and honestly have great difficulty hearing the beat. I'd like to be able to hear the beat in various types of music and also learn to read music. And also learn to play the recorder (I'm thinking clarinet might be a stretch at this point).

Any suggestions/ advice at point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. At this point, my interests are classical and jazz.

Many thanks,
