Lumedyne Location Lighting Seminars

Here’s the group to help you take the next step in location lighting using powerful and portable Lumedyne Location lighting. We will be working together to learning both basic and advanced location lighting techniques with professional models, makeup, hair and styling at every shoot. Each meetup will feature a unique location offering different and varied looks for each shoot with different models.

Multiple Lumedyme Lighting kits will be provided at each meetup to learn, experiment and grow your lighting skills with.

This is the perfect place for photographers to learn about lighting and take their lighting to the next level and build their portfolios with first-rate images.

Workshops

This is a meet-up group for photographers who recognize that by using better lighting skills we can create better looking images than today’s simple cameras can do for anyone at the press of a button. Yes, we can use and control ambient light as we wish. However, we can create images that do not exist to the naked eye using portable and powerful flash equipment. The lessons taught at our meet-ups apply to most studio strobes and some other portable strobes. You’ll find that an “on-camera” flash just won’t cut it in many situations but you may learn some better ways to use your on camera flash when it’s helpful as well.

We have several events in New York each year that teach lighting with different styles, models, lighting techniques and different locations that are generally aimed at being able to shoot with controlled lighting anywhere, indoors or outside at any time. We focus on fashion, glamour, portrait, wedding and event, commercial and editorial photography as all of these require the images to tell a story of some form or another.

A photographer is a writer of light.

Warning, the following knowledge can be addictive. Using this knowledge may cause you to start shooting in a new and different style than you may have become comfortable with. Your friends, family and customers will likely notice the difference. You have been warned.

We Teach… 
1) There is NO CORRECT WAY to light an image 
2) Controlled lighting, generally from off camera, is the key factor that separates a correctly exposed image and a well lit image. 
3) How to envision an image of your own style and create it with lighting tools small enough to carry onto a remote location yet powerful enough to overwhelm full sunlight.

We create live location photo shoots that are hands-on events with multiple flash systems using various brands and styles of light modifiers, Pocket Wizard radio slaves, Sekonic light meters and Lumedyne flash equipment to create great images with your own style.

After a brief training period, you shoot in small groups of photographers with professional models provided. We have the location, the lights and the talent. All you need is a camera with a hotshoe and your own image ideas.

In a studio, you can fine tune your lighting style and then easily duplicate it when you wish. When you work on location, you do not have that luxury. To be a master at our craft is to be able to create a beautiful image anywhere, at anytime. Evaluate the ambient light and imagine an image in your mind, then create it. It is that simple.
