Lake Minnewaska - Beginner Level Sign-Up

  • Jun 19, 2010 · 10:30 AM
  • Lake Minnewaska Trail Head by the Bathrooms!

NOTE: THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT SIGN-UPS FOR THIS RIDE BASED ON ABILITY. MAKE SURE YOU SIGN-UP FOR THE RIGHT LEVEL. WE ARE DOING THIS TO HELP CONTROL OUR GROUP NUMBERS SINCE LAKE MINNEWASKA IS VERY STRICT ABOUT GROUP SIZE Hello everyone! Yes, it’s time for our first Minnewaska ride of the season! For the old-timers in the group, you know this is one of our most popular rides. For the newbies of the group, you will understand quickly why ever loves Lake Minnewaska. For those who have never been, this is a non-technical ride,
so hybrids are allowed, but don’t worry, you will get quite a workout. The first hill that starts us off is called cardiac hill for a reason! They are very strict at Minnewaska about group size riding there, so we need to respect that.
When you RSVP please include the following info to aid the organizers in coordinating rides: - Are you driving? If so, how many additional bikes/people can you take - Do you need a ride - Where are you coming from
The organizers will be organizing rides which are given out first-come-first serve. We ask that you don't make your own arrangements. This is the sign-up for beginner riders. If you are riding with a friend/partner, we ask that you ride down a level rather than they ride up. If you are an INTERMEDIATE RIDER, click here:
Intermediate Sign-up If you are an ADVANCED RIDER click here:
Advanced Sigh-up We will be meeting at the same parking lot as the previous year’s rides, its called The Awosting Parking Lot. It is a few hundred feet down Rt. 55 from the main entrance. (Note: There may not be a gate person at the Awosting Parking lot, so you may need to enter through the main entrance and drive down the little side road to the Awosting Parking lot).
For those driving up from the city we will be meeting 96th and West End Ave at 8:00am. Driving Directions from NYC: - Take the GW Bridge upper level out of Manhattan - Stay to the right, exit onto the Palisades - Take exit 9W (87, New York State Thruway North towards Albany) - Exit 18, New Paltz, make a left onto Route 299 - At Junction Route 44/55 make a Right. Park entrance is about 6 miles up winding mountain road on Left - Once you enter the park, make the very first right turn - immediately after the toll booth. There is a trail near the bathroom, we will be taking that one up! Park Info:

    Hey All,

If you plan to catch a ride or have offered to drive to Minnewaska we'll be meeting at 96th and West End Ave at 8:00am (unless you've made other plans with your driver). We'll load up and try to be on the road by 8:15 to get started at Minnewaska by 10:30.

I'll be at 96th and West end with my old green Jeep helping to load up and get on the road.

Looking forward to a great ride!
