1200 Washington Street , peekskill, NY (map)

  • Upper Parking Lot
  • This will be an intermediate level ride. If you've never been, Blue Mountain Reservation has perhaps some of the most challenging set of mountain biking trails in the northeast. Start time will be 10:00am. We will meet in the upper parking lot. You will need to be able to go over almost ANYTHING while maintaining a decent pace. Bring all the usual necessities. Call me if you have any questions.

Looks like the ride is cancelled, what with the race and all. Hope there is another intermediate here, as I have been wanting to ride Blue for a long time. Usually Sunday's are better, but it varies. Thanks for putting out more ride options lately.

one lap should be around 5 to 6 miles... I am doing Cat 1 so 18 miles, if you never raced before but can handle keeping a good momentum without stopping, you may want to sign up for Cat 2, Cat 3 is a waste of time and money...
to signup, bikereg.com, always get to a race one hour before the start, so to have time to pick up your plate number, gear up, eat something thirty minutes before, check your bike one last time, warm up, pre ride the course or part of it if you have extra time to spare...
For racing camelback are too heavy and you sweat to much, you need to use bottles, and leave spare bottles at the feeding zone, so to grab every laps.
Bare minimum in your pocket jersey should be 2 energy gels a mini air pump, a small tool kit, mini bottle of stans no tube with the valve rim tool (forgot the name of this one)

6 miles per lap. 1 lap for cat 3, 2 for 2, 3 for cat 1 and pros.

How many miles and laps is it?

the race course will make parking and riding difficult i think, so just be aware. the course goes out of the lot north, then up the fire road to Ned's, to Stinger, upper Sis/lower Sis, Criss-cross to Two Live Crew, then fire road around the pond by the small lot, and back. So areas like My favorite and Debacle - and even upper Monster should be fine.

(Btw, anyone going who needs someone extra to cheer for - 'cause don't we ALL need a little more cowbell?! - I'll be in Kissena kit on a black and silver Trek Y-frame (Y33). Would love to meet some people...and it's my first mtb race ever!

I'd love to attend one of these, but there's a race there that day (which I'll be at!) I'd think this is not a great time for a group ride.
