All level ride,Skills clinic and BBQ!

Needs a date Coming soon!

Needs a location Coming soon!

Well most of you know I've been kicking around the idea of a day where we meet and greet combined a skills clinic ride and have a BBQ maybe more biking or whatever...

This needs everyones help and participation!

Need people that know the trails and or can help demo and teach some biking skills...

We need items to grill Food plates utensils etc...

When:

July?

Aug?

Where:

Blue Mtn...

Bethpage to Stillwell and back lots of trails for everyone.

So lets get the ball rolling on this many of us think this is a great idea...

We reached our 1000th member mark and this group is still growing.

Post thoughts and ideas...

How about Sprain Ridge, D? Closer location, no parking fees, Picnic tables & BBQ pits, enough techy trails....

    Closer to who? Tony LOL
    Just kidding...

This is just the first run for the season.
Last year we had it at Lewis Morris that covers the people in NY and NYC
Bethpage should cover the people in Long island, Bronx and NYC
I'm sure there will be other BBQ if this one goes well so stay tuned.
    Thanks for the feedback.

closer to mass transit for those without a car and a quick ride from the city, but Tony also brings up other good points to consider

I have a few weddings in Aug to attend so maybe we can plan on the end of Aug to put this together. And yes this will be a weekend Sat. or Sun Location TBD will plan on a place that is easy for everyone to get to remember that we can do another one next month if all goes well I was hoping to hear from more people on this but hey once we have a date and a location I hope more people will come join in on the fun.

This is a great idea. I can possibly do the weekend of August 20th. Other than that, I'm booked until the 2nd weekend of September. I live in Rockville Centre, so 2 people can take the LIRR here and I can pick them up plus their bikes from the station and head to Bethpage. It's about 25 minutes away. I have a little charcoal grill and lots of charcoal for use as well. And my brother has a membership to Restaurant Depot so I can pick up meat and veggies in bulk on the cheap!

Hi guys, this is a great idea. Bethpage to Stilly sounds nice. Bethpage has nice areas to eat and chill. Cunningham park has lots for all levels and lots of stuff for a clinic i.e jumps, drops, skinnys etc. However I've never been to Sprain Ridge and would love to check it out with a group. JM2C

Ringwood state park in NJ has some really nice riding and a nice picnic area.
It has one of the best technical trails in the northeast too.
I can give 1 or 2 people from NYC a ride.
    Weekends only please please please.

Ringwood gets my vote also. There are challenging fire roads for the beginners, inetrmetdiate trails, and advanced terrain for rock hoppers. There is a great picnic area and Shepard's Lake for a nice dip after the ride. I know a few of the trails which are technical and can lead a group on an out n back for a few hours. I can pick up a 3 additional riders and bikes at Peekskill Metro North. Just gotta bring me a few beers and a hot dog for after the ride!

    What about next weekend?
Sat or Sun (aug 27th or 28th)
Before it starts getting chilly for a picnic.

Being new to this group and the city, is there anyone riding from the city to the BBQ? I am sure I can find my way using my awesome navigation skills and 'let's do this' attitude (haha) but may not hurt to meet up with a group (or one person) and ride on out... let me know! Thanks. Alicia

I'm a beginner, been to cunningham alone a few times, once with the bk mtb group and once to taconic-hereford multi use area. I really need some help, especially with technical sections.

Hey guys, although we had snow last weekend, it looks like the forecast for future weekends isn't looking too bad, hence, its great weather to ride. Can we get in a few more rides before the weather really changes? We can start the rides a bit later in the day to ensure a bit of warmth. Lets do this MTB lovers before hibernation sets in.

Who said the season ends?? That's why they make snow studs and tire chains. We ride through the Winter! Only Bears hibernate.
