I have been doing volunteer work involving children and seniors. (Senior lunches at Lenox Hill Hospital and St Peter's Church, reading to children involved with the Pajama Program and working at the Yorkville Food Pantry). I am now involved in training so that I can volunteer with the ASPCA. I want to do things that make a positive impact whether it be with people or animals. I currently do my volunteer work through New York Cares.
In addition to my volunteer work, I was working as a Manager in the Occupational Health Dept of the New York Times prior to being laid off in October. I handled the disability claims and Family Medical Leave Act Issues. I worked with sick and injured employees to help them feel more comfortable, to answer all their questions and to help them get back to gainful employment as quickly and safely as possible. I feel that I have strong customer service skills. I am a hardworking, dedicated team player who is eager to learn and make a difference. I am passionate about helping others and feel that I am patient, trustworthy, responsible and compassionate. I know that my personality, experiences and skills make me a perfect fit for non-profit work. I thrive in this type of environment.
I would very much like to meet people who have the qualities and personalities that you find in non-profit work. Kind, caring and compassionate people. This is my niche. I am also interested in learning about other volunteer and community activities, as well as non-profit job opportunities.
I do understand and take this very seriously.
Hello. This group just caught my eye. I have been doing a lot of volunteering lately and I love the sense of purpose and accomplishment that it leaves yandesite. It would be great to meet like minded individuals to share experiences..
