About The New York City Pug Meetup Group

Our meetup group is open to all pugs, pug parents and pug fanatics, no matter their age, gender, disability, financial status, favorite food, etc biggrin Just because you live in Mozambique or Alaska doesn't mean you can't be a part of our group and participate in our message board. And heck! It may even give you an excuse to come to NYC for a vacation!

We are here to learn from and support one another. Yes, there will be disagreements. And there will most definitely be many celebrations. In the end, Lenny and I hope we will all pull together as a family. This is a very large city and it is easy to get lost or forgotten. Our group is a warm and welcoming place for all.

All members are welcome to post information about EVERY event and happening in the city so that we may all stay informed. No one is required to attend any event or purchase any item ? this is to keep everyone informed of all the many happenings here in the city and surrounding area. Lenny and I am on numerous mailing lists which keep us abreast of many of the canine friendly happenings so we will post them all as we receive word from the hosts! Let's all pool our resources to stay on top of and involved in the city's happenings and hopefully have a lot of fun biggrin

Our members are warm, wonderful and generous community members who are quick to help animals everywhere:

  • December 2008: The New York City Pug Meetup Group partners with Curly Tail Pug Rescue!
  • October 28, 2007: Our first DONATION RAFFLE! For every additional $1.00 and/or item donated to AH Soho from their "wish list," attendees received a raffle ticket. One winner was chosen and received an Andrea Levine Best of Breed sterling silver charm bracelet and pave CZ pug charm compliments of Lenny the Pug's Luxuries. One donation raffle will be held at every Animal Haven Soho Pug Meetup!
  • October 28, 2007: Animal Haven Soho is the NEW home to our monthly indoor events! All per pug fees collected go directly to Animal Haven to help them with their mission to save the lives of NYC cats and dogs!
  • On Sunday, November 12, 2006, The New York City Pug Meetup Group co-hosted a charity event with Lenny the Pug to benefit Animal Haven and Precious Pugs Rescue & Adoption. Author Nancy Levine once again joined us at her only East Coast book signing for her newest title, Letters to a Young Pug. "Giving Thanks & Helping Others" was the first NYC pre-holiday canine friendly shopping event! Over 150 people came together for an afternoon of food and fun while shopping for a CAUSE!
  • Author Alison Pace joined us in May 2006 to help raise funds for Green Mountain Pug Rescue and Precious Pugs Rescue & Adoption
  • We co-sponsored a professional photography fundraiser with Ronnie Schultz to benefit Barkin' Arts NYC in June 2006
  • Also in June 2006, we helped raise funds for the ASPCA thanks to a raffle organized by group member, Shannon Ford
  • Author Nancy Levine joined us in November 2005 for our Green Mountain Pug Rescue fundraiser
  • We raised funds for Hurricane Katrina's canine victims in September 2005

Absolutely EVERYONE is welcome to suggest anything and everything! You can even suggest that Lenny and I go blond! I'm not saying that we'll comply, but you are more than welcome to suggest it tongue Lenny and I are here to serve all of you!

Assistant Organizers are always needed! You are welcome to plan your events as frequently or infrequently as you would like. Wherever you like. However you like. From simple, fun-filled outdoor gatherings at public dog runs to tea time at your own home to events at a shop or spa, every venue is welcome and wonderful! It is YOUR event to plan in any manner you would enjoy because if you would enjoy it there are most definitely more that would also biggrin

Julia (Washington Heights), Nikki (Astoria, Queens), Drea (Happy Paws to benefit Curly Tail Pug Rescue) and Carla (VIRTUAL AO) are absolutely MARVELOUS Assistant Organizers who have created innumerable fun events for everyone! Lenny and I host the monthly indoor events at Animal Haven Soho which benefit the shelter, but it would be great if more people would volunteer to organize events at other venues in the city!

3rd Saturday: Happy Paws to benefit Curly Tail Pug Rescue (Drea & CTPR volunteers)
