Lead Developer @ DealSheet (Full Time – New York City)

DealSheet is an online information services firm that tracks which corporate transaction advisors worked on which deals. We bring clarity to an opaque market by:
• Enabling law firms, investment banks and other advisors to showcase their deal experience to potential customers
• Offering executives and investors a tool to find the advisors with the most relevant deal experience for their specific needs
• Providing professional networking opportunities among advisors

Transaction advisors spend billions on marketing each year trying to attract new clients and we are poised to disrupt how it’s done. Led by successful entrepreneurs with deep domain expertise, we are tackling an interesting problem with an innovative service and a high-margin business model. We’ve built a prototype of our web app that has proven demand for our service; now we need an exceptional developer to lead our technology team.

What you will be doing
As our technical lead, you’ll be tackling interesting challenges and will play a pivotal role in developing the product. Responsibilities include:
• Hands-on coding
• Build and lead our engineering team, and oversee contractors as needed
• Design the platform and set technical strategies
• Ensure quality through test-driven development
• Participate in the overall strategy and success of the firm

Technical qualifications
• 3+ years professional experience coding modern, data-driven web applications
...+ 2+ years experience in Ruby preferred. Be comfortable in additional languages
...+ Familiarity with Javascript, HTML5, CSS3
...+ Experience with relational and/or NoSql databases
...+ Use of software craftsmanship principles. You write clean code. You unit test everything
...+ Excellent overall knowledge of design patterns, web dev and web architectures

• Relevant, impressive work samples that you can show us
• Experience hiring and managing dev teams
• Demonstrable passion for coding

Nice to have:
• Experience with enterprise search servers (Solr/Lucene, Endeca)
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and SOA
• Experience with agile development
• Use of version control
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
