This question deals with the overall issue of whether we as humans are moving in an upward trajectory, staying the same (except with more technology) - or..... going downhill (and taking the rest of the world with us).
Come and argue your position!!
Btw - this meetup will be following an open discussion format - unstructured. I'd like to see if we can self-moderate and allow all to have their voices heard within a more dialogue oriented, free-flowing format. The hope is that all will allow for balanced participation without anyone dominating the discussion. We'll see how it works and then vote on whether we prefer the (previous) more structured or unstructured formats.
Amusing note: Last month's topic 'Death and Dying' recieved a record number of RSVPs (40+). At the end of the meetup we voted on new topics. The lowest number of votes? 'Humor and Fun' (two votes).
This is why I love New York!
I can't make it now either, but might drop by at the end. Everyone enjoy! And I think we are positively evolving, but only 20, 25% of the population is "aware," although more are wakening up every day. The planet is shifting to a kinder more humane human being, but we aren't there....yet. Needs at least another 100 years. And the "toys" are necessary because our circle of people is so much bigger than ever in history. Which could be a good thing...or a bad thing, depending on your vision.
sorry cdn't make this. not feeling well. was looking forward to the topic. grateful for Berto's links. will look forward to the post-comments :)
Sending you virtual chicken soup... hope you feel much better soon!

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to this meeting, but there's a nice BBC 3-part series documentary on human evolution: Part 1: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00jz8vj
- Part 2: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00k39gq
- and Part 3: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00k7z0b
. Hopefully this can provide some factual basis for good discussion.
