After Christmas Games

  • Dec 28, 2013 · 3:00 PM

All righty gang. If you're in town, let's share some games that we got for Christmas or Hanukkah. Santa is usually good to me, so I'll bring some of my latest games. Why don't you bring some of yours? We'll try them out and have a gay old time.

For those who haven't read it, there's a message wishing everyone a happy holiday season from all the Organizers of this group in the Discussions section.

Hey there fellow LGBT gamers. Just a heads up to let you know that one of our organizers, Jack D will be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune this Thursday, January 9. So tune in or set your DVRs. Jack was previously a contestant on Millionaire with Meredith Vieira and won $16,000. He was at our After Christmas Games meetup.

A few no shows but a full house. We started out playing Can of Worms. Jonah won that with 11 chips. We then split with a few joining Jonah. My table played Geek Out, which turned out to be too geeky for most of us. Reed won that. Next was Urban Myth, which Clark won. I won the dice game called Shizzle. Eugene won Uno. We played three gams of Jinx. Dave won two games and I won one. Jack then won two games of Uno and the last game of Shizzle. After Geek Out, a few people joined Spike for Trivial Pursuit, which Spike won. They played six games of Uno with Spike and Jack each winning three games. Jonah also ran a few games at his table, including Avalon and Pizza Bola.

Thanks to everyone who attended and brought games to play. We had quite a few first-timers and hopefully they will return. The next LGBT meetup will be in January. Till then, Happy New Year to everybody!

One more thing. During the course of the meetup, a few people went to get food and drinks in the middle of games, sometimes without saying anything. This does slow down a game if we have to wait for someone to take their turn. Perhaps in the future we can get food and drinks in between games or during a given break period. Other than that, a very enjoyable afternoon.

With this many people, we will be splitting up into two groups. I will bring some extra games that someone else will run. I will also try to get there early to hold table space.

I'll try to be there around 2:30. I'll be wearing a purple shirt with a Meetup tag and a matching purple Santa hat.

I will be attending the tomorrow. However, I am not very savvy with board games, that's why I joined this group and hopes to learn. Actually, I love Backgammon. I've played checkers. I suck at cards. Never played a video games. My friends often say I should learn to play Chess, because I am such a strategic thinker. I just like hanging out with COOL people and having fun.

I have a couple of games I can bring... The Resistance, which is a discussion-based party game involving betrayal and sabotage, and Once Upon A Time, a creative story-telling card game. I may only be able to stay for a couple of hours if I have to work that evening though.

These games sound very interesting. I'd like to give them a try.

    Games I'm bringing include:

Can of Worms - did most people say yes or no to a survey question

Geek Out - how many things can you name to a question. Outbid everyone else to win

Urban Myth - hear a statement and decide whether it's true or not

Other people are invited to bring games also. Party, Euro/strategy, card or dice games.
