Basic guidelines which became a necessity through experience.
GROUP BASICS: We stand behind a none-denominational protestant statement of faith: by scripture alone, by faith alone, by grace alone, through Christ alone, glory to God alone. We welcome members from all walks of life and faith as long as you have a genuine interest in some aspect of Christianity & a respect for our members - recruiters & disrupters will be removed. To uphold the purpose of this group, members professing the christian faith are welcome to post and lead events, having attended at least three prior events with the group. However, suggestions in person or on the discussion forum http://www.meetup.com... are more than welcome from all members. Because we're bound to discuss event ideas at our get-togethers, there's likely an event in the works right now. For this reason, please send me an email prior to posting your own event so that I can make sure the calendar is clear.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR RSVP SERIOUSLY: Every group has a few members who reserve YES repeatedly yet no one's ever met them. Some events require reservations, some require a known number of people... and honestly it just sucks to be stood up. This became a real problem and source of discouragement for our organizers in like groups... but was practically solved by beginning an accurate attendance record. If you reserved YES you are expected to keep your commitment and show up. If this becomes impossible, change your RSVP before the event. Simple. If you weren't able to do this, send a note. Members who reserved YES, yet did not show up, will receive a "no show" on their attendance record. This may sound strict, but what does it mean? It means you may be asked not to reserve certain events until your attendance tendencies improve. If you continue to RSVP and collect no-shows, you may be asked to leave the group.
