I am also looking into a church sponsoring a showing if we can collectively donate the money to cover the licensing fee for the showing.

Since this movie is no longer showing in theaters and it is out on DVD, how about we treated it like book club meetup? How many people would be willing to rent the movie from Netflix on your own, watch it, and 2 weeks later meetup to discuss it together over lunch or dinner on a weekend? : )

I'd say so, too. You could have the private viewing with no problem but the act of first getting word out over the internet would probably make a mess of trouble for the one who did it!

I looked into their licensing rules and contacted Amos with the details. Their licensing fee for a church to show the movie to an audience of less than 100 is very reasonable, $99. If a church is willing to show it, possibly as an outreach, and with 33 RSVPs we can easily cover the cost and have extra to donate to the church. Better to donate the money we would have paid for a ticket to the movie makers and the church, than to a theater chain. : ) http://www.godsnotdea... Whose church is willing to sponsor the showing? Preferably a centrally located church like Saint Peters or The Church of the Holy Innocents in Manhattan. Anyone with additional ideas?

Another option along the lines of Yen's Netflix suggestion: If you don't have Netflix, the movie is also currently available through Redbox kiosks that, in NYC, seem to generally be in Duane Reade stores. Using the Redbox website, you find a location convenient to you that has the DVD or Blu-Ray disc. Have the disc held for pickup (reserving it) and visit the location. After you're done, you can return the disc to any Redbox machine that is convenient to you. Costs $1.50 for the DVD or $2 BD per day. Offerings change with time so this movie will probably only be available for awhile.

Impactful concept to create as a movie. I would love to attend, but I'm waiting for a date. Hopefully I am free on the scheduled date.

I don't see this movie playing in any NYC movie theaters. I do see, however, that they are still playing Heaven is for real.
