Ultimate NYC History Walking Tour: Bowling Green to Columbus Circle

The Ultimate NYC History Walking Tour: Bowling Green to Columbus Circle

Our tours are designed for fun and friendly members of NYSN and our partner social networking groups.  This is not a tour for tourists but for people who live in and around NY or who are new to the area who want to learn more about the city they live in and the amazing things they are surrounded by every day!  Socialize and get a great workout all with one of NYC's most unique and fun adventures! Our Manhattan Broadway Tour is one of our most popular events!

We'll begin the day at Bowling Green and work our way up historic Broadway all the way to Columbus Circle! Along the way our tour guide will share with you the history of how New York City grew up along this old Native American Indian path that is now the most famous road in the world.

It is a great afternoon to meet other fun people in our group and experience the city in a way you never have before. So many of us take for granted the history, architecture, and diversity of the city we live in and this is a great way for native New Yorkers and those new to the area to really appreciate our magnificent city!

Along the way our guide will give you a detailed history of each part of the city and show amazing photo's from the 1800’s and early 1900’s that will show you many buildings and structures that are still here and incorporated into today’s landscape .

You will also see:

-The Customs House
-A fence from the 1600's
-Trinity and St Paul's Churches and grave stones dating back to 1600's
-Photo's of the 1920's Wall Street Bombing
-Park Row once “newspaper row” and the theater district.
-Union Square home of many social protests
-Madison Square, home of the first 2 Madison Square Garden's, the Flat Iron Building and much more!
-Herald Square site of the 6th ave Elevated train, Macy's and a rich history.
-Time's Square's seedy past and bright future.
-Columbus Circle's lost potential and rebirth.

Is there still time to join this walk today? This looks really fun and interesting, but couldn't even think about committing until today...

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
