What do you love the most about vinyl records?

Listening to an album from beginning to end, as it was intended. Also the fact that you have to be careful. 'Perfect Sound Forever' is nice and all, but there is something reassuring about the fact that vinyl degrades a little when you use it. Nothing should last forever.

How long have you been collecting records?

20 years, with a long break in the middle. Over that time I've built some of my stereo equipment (from kits) and my speakers from scratch. (They're nowhere as good as John DeVore's...)

What type of music do you collect on vinyl?

A fair range - newer music doesn't seem to neatly break down into types, so I'm trying to let go of that a bit.

I'm J., I'd love to learn more about local NYC record stores, and meet people who can recommend good recordings. I listen to most everything, music-wise.
