About MOUSE: MOUSE is a NYC-based innovative youth development organization that empowers underserved youth to learn, lead and create with technology, preparing them with skills essential for their academic and career success. The MOUSE Squad program trains students to become digital media and technology experts in their schools, improving the use of technology to enhance learning, while also building confidence and developing skills for 21st century innovation. MOUSE operates in more than 230 schools across the country, serving over 170,000 students each year. MOUSE currently employs ten full-time staff, one part-time staff member, and an array of consultants and contractors.
Position Overview: MOUSE is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Business Development Manager who will drive the continued expansion of MOUSE programs across the country, (currently in 14 states), with a particular focus on school districts and the charter schools community, as well as in other learning spaces used by young learners. The Business Development Manager will also help identify, cultivate and close grant opportunities with corporations and foundations, and revenue-generating partnerships with corporations and large non-profit organizations, including licensing of selected MOUSE intellectual property. The Business Development Manager will report directly to the Director of Development . The position is based in MOUSE’s office in Manhattan/NYC; some travel is required.
The Business Development Manager will:
Identify, cultivate and close on a specific number of new revenue-generating relationships each year, and achieve or exceed specific overall revenue goals..
Work closely with the Director of Development and the Executive Director to leverage MOUSE’s existing networks for qualified prospects and leads.
Work closely with MOUSE’s program team in onboarding of new MOUSE clients, to ensure client satisfaction with program implementation, after-sales service and ongoing MOUSE relationship.
Give MOUSE’s learning design team feedback from prospects and clients so that MOUSE can modify current offerings to meet learner needs and create offerings that meet as-yet unmet learner demand.
Create viable sales strategies for new MOUSE products and services, including licensing of intellectual property outside of existing MOUSE membership channels.
Participate in budgeting & planning process including forecasting & monthly reporting review.
Manage sales/prospects database in Salesforce and provide reports as needed.
Assist in planning fundraising events.
Represent MOUSE externally at conferences, workshops and special events.
Other projects as they arise and time allows.
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities:
Bachelor degree and 4-6 years of relevant professional experience required, an MBA will be a plus.
Passion for MOUSE’s mission and/or nonprofit experience is required.
Demonstrated success in sales and business development; preferably in education or a social enterprise environment
Comfortable attaining or exceeding clearly specified goals.
Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds (students, teachers, administrators, corporate partners, etc.).
Self-starter, highly flexible, results-driven, a fast learner able to juggle multiple priorities.
Superb written and verbal communication skills, familiarity with contracts a strong plus..
Technology skills are highly desirable including ease with Excel, Google Apps, Salesforce.
Desire to learn and grow in the role and with the organization.
Some national travel will be required.
