Re: [NYEdTech] SXSWedu Proposals

Thanks for sharing - everyone has such interesting proposals!

Our CEO here at Flocabulary started a community program in DUMBO along with the DUMBO BID called Big Idea Week. It's basically a week-long curriculum where elementary students learn about entrepreneurship and innovation from Brooklyn tech company founders and engage in hands-on STEM exploration. We're planning to create a replicable curriculum model that can be used in other communities, and hope to speak about it at SXSWEdu - here's our panel page: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/36054

If you're interested in learning about big data in education, I invite you to vote for Knewton's SXSWedu panel, "D is for Data" at http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/42658.

This candid discussion led by NPR’s Anya Kamenetz will tackle myths and concerns about data in education. What are data’s opportunities and limitations?

Panelists include:

Agreed! Thanks Monica! The Joan Ganz Cooney Center @ Sesame Workshop pulled together LEGO, Nickelodeon, and MIT Media Lab to talk about how engaging games can be used to promote playful learning. Planning on having design experts share lessons learned from applying the latest research to produce super popular/transformative games. You'll also get to hear about best practices on processes like research gathering, iterative design and user feedback. Here is the link to vote: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/39174

Looking forward to seeing people at this year's conference!

Cheers,

Hello Everyone,

After hearing a few people share their SXSWedu proposals at Monday night's event I thought it might be useful to rally the support of the community.

Perhaps those NYEdTech-ers who have submitted proposals can send the link out on our list so everyone can find their panel picker page and cast a vote.

Here is a link to mine: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/36708

Looking forward to seeing what others have submitted and connecting at September's event!
