Explore new possibilities with your DSLR, MILC, or prosumer camera in a professional studio. Although the rules of exposure still apply, digital photography gives you the power to focus on what's really important with portraits: the relationship of photographer to subject. Discover the freedom that operating in a professional studio gives you. But more than that, watch how many of these same techniques can be used in a home studio, using inexpensive gear!
This class starts off with taking your flashgun off the camera and turning your home, your office, virtually anywhere into a mini studio. Later on in the afternoon, we'll be working with a professional model to hone your skills as a portrait photographer, using the lights found in our professional studio.
In portrait photography, the human body has its own grammar and the face can give you thousands of expressions. In this workshop, (1) you will develop your skills of thinking of your exposure decisions more creatively, and (2) you will gain new insights on the single most important skill in portrait photography: establishing your relationship with the subject.
Skill Level: this class is useful for all skill levels for photographer who has never shot a model in a studio before.
Gear required: any digital camera with the capability of manual controls, whether that be an SLR, MILC, micro-four-thirds. Bring all lenses.
The fee for this class is $50.00.
