A Big Shout Out to y'all - Stepping Down as Organizer

Hi gang,

let me start with a big thank you. I've met a lot of wonderful people since I took over organizing the group some time ago, at the risk of leaving someone out, I won't mention you all by name, you know who you are. It's been nothing but a pleasure and a great experience and I thank you all sincerely for that. A special and very personal shout out for the friendships I've formed with members of the group, long may they continue.

Anyway, thanks to the wonders of the economy (a giant poke in the eye to the Bernie Madoff's of this world), I've, as I'm sure you've noticed, hosted very few events of late. I apologize for dropping the ball there, hence this e-mail. With that in mind and no obvious opportunities for full time employment on the horizon (if you're a Daily News reader check out tomorrow's issue, I'm featured in the Hire Me series), I think it's time for me to step aside (I'm happy to continue on as Assistant Organizer) and let someone else have the opportunity to step up as Organizer. I'm more than happy to offer any advice or assistance, lessons learned etc. to anyone who fancies the job. Keep in mind too that although my bias in the past has been towards theater and comedy events, it is the organizer's perogative to take this group in whatever direction they deem good for the membership.

Take a leaf if you can from the great success of the Celtic Music Meetup Group which has become a real force in the meetup world and more importantly in the local Irish cultural scene. Dennis and indeed many of the members of the Celtic Music Meetup have been great supporters of the Irish in NY Meetup and that has been very much appreciated. We've had excellent joint meetups and long may they reign. I certainly encourage our new organizer to continue in that vein. A special shout out too to all our Assistant Organizers, especially those who've taken the opportunity to host their own events. If you haven't already, don't forget to join Ria's new meetup group with whom we've also had a couple of joint meetups,

I think that's it, if you've read this far, thanks :)

I won't officially step down until we have a new Organizer, feel free to drop me a line or give me a call for a chat on[masked] 4085.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday,
All the best,
