Thanks Nick, and thanks again to everyone who came last night. ?I really enjoyed the discussion, and think that we covered a lot of ground. ?Excellent to hear the update from the MTA.

On a totally separate note, I wanted to pass along an invitation to another transportation event taking place next week. ?Next Thursday 10/1, NYSDOT is hosting a 511/ITS regional workshop on "future directions for traveler information". The audience is mostly regional transpo agency staffers, but NYSDOT has asked me to extend the invitation to the developer community. ?On the agenda is an in-depth discussion of data policies and strategies. ?For more info on the event, see here:?http://www.scribd.com/doc/20116676/511-ITS-Workshop-OverviewAgendaDirections ?Attached is the RSVP form.

Thanks again,
Nick

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who came out last night. It was another great meetup, and I
really appreciate everyone who contributed their time and thoughts (and an
extra thanks to everyone who helped clean up afterward!).

I've posted the notes on the wiki here:

http://ideas.topplabs.org/wiki/New_York_Public_Transit_Data_September_Notes

They're still pretty rough, so please don't hesitate to fill in gaps or clarify
confusing points. (A big thanks to the folks who took down the notes in the
first place!)

I started a stub page for us to work on the documents we discussed last night here:

http://ideas.topplabs.org/wiki/New_York_Public_Transit_Data_Roadmap

Lastly, an exciting update: After the meetup last night I checked my
email and found a message from the MTA's Chief of Marketing and
Advertising, who asked me to inform the group that he's "pushing for a
live link for more efficient data release." This is a great development
and shows that with a thoughtful, coordinated effort on our part we can
help open up this data and forge a positive relationship between the MTA
and the developer community.
