NY Quantified Self Show&Tell #16 (Digitas)

  • May 8, 2012 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Come join us in May for a night of talks on self-tracking and monitoring where you, the members of our NY Quantified Self community, share ideas, tools and experiments. If you are self-tracking in any way -- life-logging, biometrics, mood, sleep, pain, happiness, energy, etc -- come and share your methods, results and insight.

For the first time, we will have a hands-on workshop hour before the talks.

If you have a self-tracking project, visualization, gadget, app, or idea you'd like to share or demo, but you don't want to get up and talk about it during the Show&Tell talks, Digitas is going to host a hands-on demo hour where you can plug in to some really cool touch screens and other devices, and share with others in a more intimate setting. If you'd like to showcase your project in such way, please email us with a description of the application, technical details about what platforms it supports and a screenshot.

7:00 - 8:00 pm QS SHOW & TELL TALKS

Presentations will start at 7pm. We save the talks for personal accounts of self-tracking and self-experimentation, rather than sales pitches. We're also interested in gadgets or tools that you've built to track something about yourself.

If you'd like to give a talk, please let us know in advance so we can discuss your topic and how much time you'll need. We keep the length of presentations to 5 minutes + 5 minutes for Q&A. If you have slides to show, feel free but it's not required.

Talk to the speakers, chat with new and old friends, ask other people what they're tracking, and generally hang out and have a great time.

An incredible space is generously being provided by Digitas, a digital brand agency that has watched and supported QS closely over the years.

Hope to see you on the 8th.

Probably the most sophisticated and intelligent crowd I've ever seen at a Meetup. Had a pleasure presenting Optigon and got fantastic feedback.

It was excellent. Really interesting stuff, including some discussion of topics that I had specifically thought about extensively on my own, so it was really cool to see that other people were interested them too and learn how they were approaching it.

Great to see what everyone was working on, and it was fun to be able to share my own experience with the group.

Excellent event! One suggestion, it was hard to hear demos in the open common area unless you were very close to presenter. Better when demos were done in an enclosed room.
