Argh! It's a Pirates marathon!!

Argh!

It's a Pirates meetup!

What should we watch?

You can help decide!  We can either watch the full Pirates of the Carribean trilogy (I have all on blu-ray) or we can mix it up a bit!  Go to the poll and vote:

Vote now!

If you vote for the second option, let us know what you'd like to see.  Hook?  The Princess Bride?   The Pirates of Dark Water??

Schedule:
5:00pm - socialize, grab a seat
6:00pm - start the viewings

Food and Drink Note: This is going to be a long meetup. We're going to be hungry and thirsty and we'll be there for 5 to 6 hours.

Everyone should bring two things to this meetup - 1 entree, and 1 other item of your choice (drink, dessert, side dish, etc). I understand this sounds like a lot, but think of it this way - how much food/drink will you want during an entire evening of raiding and pillaging? This will ensure there's a good selection of eats and drinks and enough to go around! If anyone's not sure what to bring, please ask!

I keep a stocked bar that's kept stocked through these meetups. If you want a specific mixed drink and don't know how to make it, just ask and I'll be happy to make one for you (provided I have all the ingrediants!).

Items the bar can use:

-Sweet Tea Vodka

-Kahlua

-Cherry Vodka

-Vanilla Vodka

-          Diet soda

If you prefer beer, you may want to bring some. I only keep whatever's left from past meetups since I'm not a beer drinker.

Cash Option: If you'd prefer, you can show up to the door with $20 cash.  I prefer to use this as a last resort option, but all monies collected will go towards future events by way of plates/cups/ice/etc.

Directions via Subway: Take the N or Q train to Astoria Blvd. When you get off the train and walk down to the ticket machines and booth, you'll be able to see a Burger King. Walk AWAY from the Burger King towards the stairs and take the LEFT stairs down to the street. This will put you at the corner of 31st Street and Astoria Blvd. Make a RIGHT on Astoria Blvd and walk about 5 minutes to Crescent St. Make a RIGHT onto Crescent and my building is halfway down the block on the left. There's a buzzer for 4G.

    - Pirates of the Carribean: the Curse of the Black Pearl
    - The Black Spot (recent pirate Doctor Who episode)
    - Hook

    The event went from 5pm - 2am!

Hi, I went but I didn't see the apartment # on the meetup info so I didn't have it with me - it's a huge building! Anyway, not so bright, so I went and saw a movie in Astoria. Sorry I missed you guys!

It looks like I'm going to have transportation problems from Jersey. I'm going to say No just in case. I'll call if things improve.

Also there is the animate pirate movie that is connected with Watchmen. I forget what it's called at the moment.

Stacy - not at all! There's definitely hope! And now that you know how the waitlist works, that'll help too. Unfortuantely, since a lot of our marathons are in apartments, we have to cap the limit, and oftetimes spaces do fill up fast, but just because someone gets shut out of one event, we definitely don't want them to feel like they won't be able to get into another! Keep an eye out for emails announcing new events, and also - maybe your friend can join, too?

Oh, that would have been good to know. So the only way I'll get off the wait list is the unlikely event that two cancel at once? I guess I assumed that the wait list would take people in order, and if the next was 2 it would wait til two slots open.

I had a great time at Crystals and would love to come again but my friend isn't on meetup and I won't leave him out. So I guess I have no hope of attending another one of these. That's a shame.

Stacy - generally it's automated. However, if you have a plus 1 like you do, if only one space opens, meetup.com will bump the next single person. That's the way meetup.com works - it's inherant in the system. Also when I host I generally keep a +5 to start. Maggie's a member who was one of my +5 so she got bumped that way. But long story short - having a +1 on the waitlist can make a lot of people pass you, the way the automated waitlist works on meetup.com.

How does the wait list work? Do u automatically get moved to Yes if a slot opens in the order u were wait Listed? Because that's my assumption but I was one of the first 3 people wait listed and I'm still waiting weeks later even though I've seen movement on the Yes list. Can u explain how this works?
