"Cityscapes" Concert

Valerie Reaper and the Keepers are an award-winning folk/blues trio comprised of all transplants. Their EP, "Cityscapes," chronicles their experiences in the city since their relocation, and, on April 13th, they are releasing it as part of a concert at Arlene's Grocery in lower Manhattan.

The concert bill is comprised of mostly (if not all) transplanted musicians:

7 PM: Montgomery Streets
8 PM: Janna Pelle
9 PM: Valerie Reaper and the Keepers
10 PM: Surefire

$8 cover charge

No dress code... come as you are!

I (Ross) would like to meet anyone coming to the show via Meetup.com prior to the start of the performance. Let me know if you're interested and we can arrange something fun before we rock out! I'm thinking a quick dinner meet-and-greet type of gathering; low-key and relaxing.

Come out and see how these transplant veterans enjoy New York!

Also, the venue told me at least one or two members of this group had difficulty getting in. That is on ME, and I apologize profusely. I thought the venue understood to direct you to me once you mentioned Meetup.com, but apparently, that wasn't the case. Future meetups will be much more well-organized, I promise.

Hey, Pete. I'll probably be there until about 5:30 or 5:45 PM. A lot of the other bands are loading into the venue at 6 PM and I'd like to greet them there. Come find me at Arlene's Grocery (I'll be wearing a red dress shirt, so I'll be hard to miss) when you arrive! I'll buy you a slice/beer as a retroactive pre-meetup interaction.

Today's the day for our first meetup! Let me know if you're coming to the pre-show pizza party at Rosario Pizza at 4:30 PM.

Our group's first meetup is this Sunday at Arlene's Grocery! I'm very excited to get this Meetup group off the ground; I think we're going to discover a lot of great, new music together.

Does everyone like pizza? I think there's a small place right next door where we can all grab a slice before the show.

For anyone who is interested, I'm buying pizza for everyone before the show at Rosario Pizza at 173 Orchard Street in Manhattan around 4:30 PM. Some of the other bands might be there with me, so you'll get to know everyone before you watch them dazzle you. Feel free to send me an e-mail at [masked] with any questions!

Is it necessary to buy tickets in advance, or can you pay at the door?

    April 2

    • Ross L.

Hey, Jeff! You can purchase tickets at the door. I believe they'd be the same price at $8, but I can confirm that for you.

      April 3

    • Ross L.

Tickets, whether they are purchased online or at the door, are $8, confirmed.

Hey Ross I'm interested to come but how do we find each other then?

    March 26

    • Ross L.

Hi, Miya! I'm thinking of meeting anyone from Meetup who's interested for dinner and drinks prior to the show at a place near Arlene's Grocery. What do you think of that idea?

      March 26

    • Mia C.

I think that sounds great! :)

Thank you all for your interest in discovering new indie music! We're going to unveil our promo flyer for the Cityscapes concert hopefully tomorrow. It's designed by Janna Pelle, who is performing in the event as well as helping me organize it.

Is this a free concert, or is there a "cover charge", also how should one dress? It looks like fun!

    March 21

    • Ross L.

Arlene's has a standard $8 cover charge. We're going to see if that can mean also including a copy of, "Cityscapes," to every attendee. No dress code! Dress however you'd like!
