We will explore the park on a couple trails starting at East Ridge Trail. We'll go at a moderate pace, stopping to admire the gigantic trees. It can get cold hiking around there, so bring warm clothing!
What to bring: Warm clothes, water, snacks (if you get hungry easily)
Where to park: Armstrong Woods offers both a parking lot and street parking at the front parking lot entrance. The turn in will be on the right. DO NOT go too far down into the park or you will run into paid parking areas.
Where we will meet: We will meet in the front parking lot area near the beginning of East Ridge Trail.
Our hike: The following hike begins in Armstrong Redwoods and winds its way into the rolling hills, forests, and grasslands of Austin Creek State Recreation Area - a dramatic contrast to the cool, moist, redwood grove. . .
Strenuous 5.6 Miles with 1100' climb: Take the East Ridge Trail from the front parking lot to the Gilliam Creek trailhead. Loop back down to the Grove by taking the Pool Ridge Trail to the Armstrong Tree. Return to the entrance via the Pioneer Trail.
How to find us: If you have any troubles locating the group (or you get there late) give me a text or call at[masked]-8809. The name is Danielle. :)
After the hike: We can stop and grab an early dinner somewhere. We'll see what we agree on later.
