Just completed Reservations for campsites 23 and 24 at Wright's Beach!

Carpool and Lunch food doc

Friday night- I will volunteer Seth, Tristan, myself and whoever can get there early to get dinner ready. That way those who will be arriving later can pitch their tent and we all can have a nice relaxing dinner then watch the sunset. Menu for dinner will be Irish cheese (goes great with red wine), crackers, apple slices, chicken and beef skewers, beans and dinner rolls. We should have plenty of time for playing music, composing new songs, singing, dancing, games, drinks and s’mores! Please bring a bottle of wine to share and your favorite drinks. I have a case of bottled water ready (35 ct), bring some if you think you'll need more.

Saturday Morning – Those who arrived late the night before will be in charge of getting breakfast together. We'll eat scrambled eggs, ham steaks, blueberry muffins and hot chocolate (if you need coffee or tea please bring your own). After having an early morning breakfast we can go out and explore the beach, take pictures, make sand castles, fly kites, get buried in the sand, play Frisbee. Check out time is Noon. Pack up should start at 10:30-11:00 am. Midday snack will be strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, Greek yogurt and almond/cranberry granola.

Saturday Lunch – We can park on the day use section for free on Saturday and take the Sonoma Coast Trail to Goat Rock Road for a short hike and lunch.Everyone please bring food to share for Saturday’s lunch. Something simple that can be easily kept in a cooler. Mid afternoon snack will consist of tangerines, a banana and a trail mix bar.

The Kortum Trail extends from Blind Beach to Wright's Beach. Access (parking) is midway along the trail at Shell Beach at Wright's Beach. The trail travels along headlands and down to a few beaches. You can also travel inland from Shell Beach by taking the Pomo Canyon Trail. It begins at Route 1, just across the pull-off entrance to Shell Beach and ends at Pomo Canyon Environmental Camp.

The final trail of note is at the northern edge of the park. Vista Point is a short loop trail that goes to - you guessed it! - Vista Point. There is a parking lot and picnic tables at the trailhead.

Kortum Trail, Wrights beach to Shell beach

Duration: ~2:00 (+2 hr)
Distance: 3.0m
El. Gain: ~300ft
El. Loss: ~300f

Kortum Trail, Shell beach to blind beach

Duration: ~2:50 (+2 hr)
Distance: ~4.6m
El. Gain: ~540ft
El. Loss: ~540ft

An alternative to the above is to drive to Bodega Dunes Campground for those who want to take a shower. We can have lunch there and explore that area for future camping trips.

Saturday Dinner - I would love to have dinner at the Tides Restaurant in Bodega Bay, but if you prefer to head back to Santa Rosa and find a place to have dinner there, we can also do that

This was a lot of fun, and an excellent job of organizing it all. There's nothing quite like being right at the beach for a while. I particularly liked how there was no cell signal at the campsite, but if you needed it you could walk up the hill a bit.

Hope you all are having a wonderful time! I'm sitting on the porch listening to the Black Keys finish their set. Looking forward to hearing the new songs and stories! :)

If you like playing dice or cards be sure to bring a lot of one dollar bills ;) I've got five dice and a deck packed. Or we could play for snacks or something if you're not feeling lucky.

Please review the carpool and lunch food document (link at the top) and make the necessary changes/additions.

James, thank you for being so flexible. I'll pick you up Friday. Please text me your address.

Matt, I placed you carpooling with Danielle and Cory. If that doesn't work please let me know.

Karis, You will be able to park in the campgrounds but will have to pay $8

Chris, there is also room for you to park in the campground for an $8 dollar fee. Sammit, I've made several attempts to contact you without any success. Please arrange your carpool.

Danielle and Cory, I think you are okay. Thank you.

Seth and Tristan, we are leaving from Napa around noon.

Now, lets get ready to have fun!

    See you all Friday!

I'm also bringing, paper plates, napkins, cups, cutlery for everyone and a case of bottled water.

My carpool situation may be complicated. I think the earliest I can leave Santa Rosa will be five, and I will have to leave before noon. I'd love to do the hike and such, but I've got a lot going on with family issues right now. It'd probably be best if I drive myself. If anyone wants to ride there with me (and get another ride back if staying), let me know.

    May 6, 2013

    • Karis W.

What time does Chris have to leave. Honestly, I'm still crossing my fingers hoping I might be able to stay but I have to plan on leaving earlyish just to be safe.

      May 7, 2013

    • Yaline

He has to be back to work at 10

      May 7, 2013

  • Seth R

We should probably all be on the same page if Yaline should bring supplies for dinner/breakfast and we pitch in money. Or if we all have to fend for ourselves. anyone able to bring a cooler and ice? I'm guessing we should all bring our own water and alcoholic beverage of choice with a little to share... I should have some firewood for a campfire.

    • Karis W.

Quick question: I am allergic to beef; should I bring chicken or veggie burgers for dinner? Or will there be the chicken and veggie skewers you mentioned in the email?

      May 7, 2013

    • Yaline

We'll have chicken and beef skewers

      May 7, 2013

  • Yaline

Sammit, I need to hear from you. We need to figure out the carpool situation.

    May 6, 2013

  • Yaline

Chris, you will have to bring your guitar!

how do ya'll feel about dogs accompanying our camping journey?

    April 22, 2013

  • Yaline

Can everyone make it there by 5:00 pm on Friday? The camping grounds I'm looking at allows 3 cars per site so, carpooling is a must! If some of you can't we'll spend Saturday night there. Please comment ASAP as I need to make the reservation tomorrow night at the latest. Thank you!

    April 26, 2013

    • Yaline

We need to come up with a plan for carpooling as we only have space for a total of 4 cars and 2 of them will have to pay the $8 dollar extra vehicle fee.

      May 2, 2013

    • Yaline

I can pick carpoolers up in Santa Rosa around 1:00 pm, still have room for 4 people

      May 2, 2013

  • Russell

Not gonna be able to make it on Friday. Have fun. Anyone staying Saturday?

Unfortunately, I don't think we are in fear of losing any more spots. I'm trying to get others to join us. Jesus, it's camping on the beach; seriously, what more could you ask for?

Just a heads up- check out for Sonoma county parks is noon. Some camp sites don't allow dogs, and others charge extra- all that do allow dogs say they have to be on a leash at all times. It depends on the campground and the tent situation since some campgrounds also have a limit on how many you can have on a site.

    I just realized I can't go :( I'm house sitting. Weak.
