Restoration Work Day with Congressman Mike Quigley

Join fellow Sierra Club members and U.S. Representative Mike Quigley for a morning of restoring the woodlands at historic Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve. Led by Stewards Marlene Rosecrans and Laurie Meyers, we will work on removing invasive honeysuckle and buckthorn, and whatever other projects are needed.

Representative Quigley, who lived in DuPage County for a number of years, now has the eastern part of DuPage County in his district. An avid environmental advocate, he wants to meet and work with some Sierra Club members and DuPage County residents while helping our Forest Preserve. He will join the work around 10:30.

Meet at 9 A.M. at the north end of the main parking lot, off of Spring Road, in Fullersburg Woods. Equipment will be provided. Please dress for the weather and bring work gloves. The FPD requires that volunteer forms be filled out prior to the event, and I will provide them to those who respond.

Please contact me for more information: Tom Richardson, [masked] ,[masked]-4351.

It was so much fun! Just proves you can have fun and do something great for the environment at the same time. It looked like a dreary day but once we got out there, it was wonderful. Congressman Quigley worked side-by-side with the rest of us and when he spoke his sincerity and passion for the environment much restored my faith that some politicians can be good.

Excellent. The group cut loads of buckthorn and honeysuckle. Congressman Quigley spoke about advocating for the environment in congress and the difficulty of getting traction on any bill related to climate change.

He's a fantastic guy. He was in my class year from Glenbard North. We took many science classes. A favorite Advanced Biology teacher we both had was Mr. Williams. Impact for rest of life for all of us. Might be there.
