Old School Video Games

Anyone interested in busting out the Nintendo64 and have an old school game night, Mario Kart would be awesome to play!!!

So this is the first meetup I'm hosting at my place. It's kind of small, but there's just (barely) enough room for about 10 people and 2 TV sets with games going on, which means that up to 8 people can play and 2 people to switch off.

Once we get established and practice a bit, we can do a Mario Kart (or Smash Bros, or Goldeneye, or whatever) tournament, possibly at around 3pm.

Feel free to come by whenever, although if you're bringing console equipment, try to get here as close to the start time as possible (or even a bit early). I do have other consoles that can be played in the meantime, but all of my old school consoles are downstate at the moment.

I'll have some snacks and drinks available, but feel free to bring whatever you feel like. If there's interest, we might order some pizza at some point.

I look forward to seeing everyone!

Mornin guys, I'm not sure if ill be there today, can we try to set up another meet? ( hopefully not on a day of a major sporting event either )

You're always free to suggest new meetups on the site. I probably won't be hosting a second event myself anytime soon, but somebody else might be up for it.

I'm gonna have to cancel because I work til 3 tomorrow and won't be able to get there til about 4. Hope everyone has fun.

Since we don't have a waiting list anymore, you could still stop by if you felt like it at 4pm. There's a chance this might go late a bit. If not, it's cool. I know a lot of people probably have made some sort of SuperBowl plans for tonight.

Is there enough anyplace specific we should park, or just wherever we can? I've got controllers for N64 and GameCube, so we should be covered for those systems.

You can park anywhere you can find a space in the complex, although try to stick with the Granada Court parking lot or you're going to be walking a bunch. I only need to get parking passes if people are there multiple days. My building is furthest in, and has plywood where the glass should be in the door right now because a neighbor had a loud, bad breakup earlier this week.

Okay, so update: I managed to borrow a friend's N64 and a few games for the weekend, although he only has two controllers. If someone has two spare controllers to bring, that would be awesome. I also have downloaded Mario Kart 64 and Smash Bros on the Wii, and have 2 controllers for that. So if anyone has a couple more Nintendo 64 friendly Wii controllers (Wiimote + classic controller or Gamecube controller), then we should be able to get 8 people playing at once on two TVs.

Ok change for me, I cant bring the 64, Iam sorry, so can we download them Brian...or if someone can bring the system cool or use other systems

Alright. It would be nice if a couple people had extra Wiimote + Wii Classic Controllers, then. I have two myself. If I need to, I might pick up one or two more.

Wii remotes? This still old skool? :-)

    January 14, 2014

    • Brian C.

Ideally we'll have actual old consoles, and I may take a road trip to grab mine, I'm not sure yet, but I can download all these games on Virtual Console if nothing else.

      January 14, 2014

    • Brian C.

Actually, I may even get an N64 myself. I can probably find a cheap one on Craigslist.

If I can make it I can bring my top load Nintendo, controllers and what games I've got. I can also bring my genesis and that stuff as well. I have a Wii and if need be I can bring those remotes also.

I will bring N64 and controllers, but anyone can bring extra too just incase .I have lots of games for it as well including my fav, mario kart! Bring it!!! :)

    January 13, 2014

  • Nick

Do we need any additional controllers for the N64? I have some, and I assume they still work, tho it has been years since testing them. Also, I can bring every multiplayer game I own. As long as u can make it (which I should) I'll bring this stuff.

As long as "I" can make it **

      January 13, 2014

    • Brian C.

It probably would be nice. I have no N64 anything at the moment, and having some extra equipment is better than being short.

    Sunday Feb 2nd??

    January 13, 2014

  • Brian C.

Yeah I'd be up for this. We need to figure out where to do this. I could host, although I never have owned a Nintendo 64. I can download N64 games on the Wii, but I'd need someone to bring a couple more N64 friendly Wii controllers (I only have one, but I'd be willing to buy a 2nd).

    January 10, 2014

    • Brian C.

I'm leaning towards Sunday afternoon pretty much anytime in Feb, but Saturday night could work also, just depends on the week.

      January 12, 2014

    • Brian C.

Also, if I am hosting, my place is pretty small. I would have to limit the RSVP's to ~ 8, maybe 10 at the max. I do have two tv's, by the way, so we could have two games going at once.

      January 12, 2014

  • Chrissy

So lets meet, Feb ok for everyone???I will bring the 64, everyone else can bring whatever!! Will be fun!

    January 11, 2014

  • Eric K.

I've got a Sega genesis and a top load Nintendo, I don't have an N64 yet... But I'd be willing to bring those along.

    January 11, 2014

  • Tiara L.

We'd be open to hosting depending on when. We've got a Wii and a PS2 but no other old systems unless A can get the Atari running. :P
