Play games for a good cause!

Join us to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s with Extra-Life.org and Fair Game

You can help out in a number of ways.

Be part of our 24 hour gaming marathon at Fair Game board game store in Downers Grove. We’ll be starting at 10 am on Saturday October 20th and going non-stop until 10 am Sunday October 21st. We’ll be playing board games, table top games, role playing games, any game we get our hands on. It promises to be a great time!

If you aren’t up for a 24 hour gaming marathon, then stop by the store any time during the event and donate to the cause and play with our dedicated gamers.

If you can’t make it out to the event, we welcome you to sponsor one of our gamers for the event.

We’ll be forming a team and pooling our money together to donate to the cause. Fair Game will also be forming their own team, supplying games and gaming space. We’ll be asking local businesses to donate food or items to our marathon as well.

RSVP to the event if you would like to be part of the team that will game for 24 hours. You’ll be responsible to find some sponsors and spread the word to your friends. If you would like to stop by the event please leave a comment for the event and when you’ll be dropping by so we know when we can expect you.

We’ll be working on some other surprises in the months coming up to the event….so stay tuned to the event page for more details!

Had a great time, thanks to the organizers and Fair Game for putting the event together. Was nice to actually get through a day of play without being called into work.

Much thanks to everyone that donated to support our local Children's Hospitals and stopped by to play games with us. Special thanks to Brian, Dan, and Nick who made it through the night with Ben and me and Fair Game for hosting!

I'm going to have a simple 4E game intended for 3-5 players that could last around 5 hours. If anyone is interested in participating in that, I'll probably start it earlier in the day on Saturday. Excited to run it!

I'll be there in the afternoon/early evening with my family.

Just a few more days until the event! The list of raffle prizes has grown! There will also be a small Heroclix tournament going on that day along side our event. If you have any last minute questions before or during the event call or text me at[masked]

Alas I can not get a pet sitter, so I won't be able to do the 24 hours. But I plan on showing at 10am with some cash to donate and RPGs to run if there is interest. Will be armed with Pathfinder Society scenarios, Temple of Hommlet Moathouse for Pathfinder/3.5 rules and a Call of Cthulhu RPG. Would be happy to do an introduction to rpg thing if players are interested in learning. Might also bring some older out of print board games (Escape from New York, Man from Uncle, Jame Bond).

Sounds good Michael. Come when you can. I'm sure there will be a few that would like an RPG

That would be really appreciated Raul. Go to www.extra-life.org and search for Brian Sommer. I'm the team leader and will be pooling the donations together. If you have time this week you can also stop at Fair game and buy raffle tickets that will also go towards the charity. Thanks for your support!

I would love to go and play games for a great cause but I won't be able to make it. Can I still sponsor the team and donate some?

You can join our team, but don't have to. If you join the team you are expected to game with us for the 24 hours. If you don't join you are still welcome to come at any point during the event for any length of time and play games with those of us playing all night. All we ask is that you give some sort of donation. Cash, check, and credit cards will be accepted. If you just want to come to play for a short period please RSVP for the event and put in the comments when you should be by.

Hi Brian, I had some questions:
Do we need to organize our own team or join yours? Can you attend without doing either?
Do attendees have to play for the full 24 hrs?
Are cash donations accepted onsite or only through the extra-life website?
What are the commitments for team members?

    Thanks,

    Michael

Add your own pledge amount that you would like to raise, and that will be put towards the team goal. When signing up it will give you three options for hospitals, however when I set it up it ended up choosing for me (Ann & Robert H Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago).

There will be a raffle going on as well. So far a few local merchants have donated prizes, including two $25 gift cards to Emmets, a prize from Fair Game, and a gift card and spice set from Spice Merchant. Caribou has also offered us coffee to get us through the night! I'll keep you updated as I hear more.

I'm probably just going to be stopping in to keep you guys going. Please text me with requests for snacks... I refuse to bring anything that requires more cooking than opening a container.

The goal is just a suggestion. To be honest the site didn't really explain that part. If you join the team your personal contributions get added to the team goal...so I assume you can create your own personal goal that will contribute to the over all team goal. As to the hospital I was given three options, but the site automatically chose for me. I have a feeling it'll do the same for you.

I've participated in this charity event for the last two years with a much smaller group and I can say nothing but good things about it. With just 4 members on my team in the first year we raised $900. I have no doubt that we can raise a great deal more! Looking forward to this!

    1) Ask friends, coworkers, and family
    2) We'll be submitting as a team. The minimum we can donate as a team is $98, there is no maximum
    3) I will get the EIN later. It is a valid 501(c)3 charity. I will have more information on the tax forms when we officially register our team closer to the event.

    Questions:
    1) Do we have to find additional sponsors if we choose to participate?
    2) How much money do we have to donate/raise?
3)What is the charities EIN and is it a valid 501(c)3 non-profit organization that we will receive a valid tax deduction for contributions?
